Rose Apple Pie Bites

Today I’ll be showing you how to make rose apple puff pastry! It’s really easy to make and a perfect gift for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day (especially for those that are into the last minute lifestyle *like myself*.

As usual, for detailed visuals on preparation, watch my video below.

Cut your apple into quarter parts and cut into thin slices like. In a medium size mixing bowl, add in the sliced apples, drizzle it with lemon juice and add in some coconut sugar. And mix it well.

Put it in the microwave on high for 1 minute 3 times -a total of 3 minutes. Once the first round is done, take it out and mix it -you can tell that the apple slices are still stiff and hard. Pop it back into the microwave and on the second minute, its starts to get softer. Into the microwave again for the last minute, and its done! I must add, depending on how thin or thick your apple slices are, it make take more than 3 minutes. Add in some cinnamon and mix it well.

Now onto the fun part! I used President’s Choice pre-rolled butter puff pastry sheets. The pre-rolled sheets I have are 10.5 by 9.5 inches -which required 1.5 medium sized apples to fill up the sheet. The PC brand contains 2 pre-rolled sheets, and if I used both of them, I would need 3 apples in total.

Overlap the apple slices and slice it up into strips with a butter knife or pizza cutter. Before you roll them up, move the apple slices 1-2 centimetres above the pastry cut line. Now, roll them up and make sure the the bottom is rolled into a start line to prevent your rose from flopping. Your pre-baked roses should look like a rose after rolling them up. To make the roses more bloomed, pull the apple rose petals outwards with your dominant finger(s).

Bake it in the oven at 325 Fahrenheit for 20 minutes and your edible roses will look yummy and pretty like this!
